Canadian Thanksgiving Day, 2nd Monday in October
8 October 2007
My colleague, Dr. Norman Horrocks, reminds me that today is a holiday in Canada for the end of the harvest: Canadian Thanksgiving Day. He remembers this as a day when this hymn was sung:
"We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land but it is fed and watered by God's almighty hand."
Wikipedia notes that Canadian Thanksgiving day is "A celebration of being thankful for what one has and the bounty of the previous year."
I have even more things to be thankful for this year--including the many kindnesses extended to me by ALA members, experiences that allowed me to meet and interact with others, stable & good health, and the arrival of many opportunities.
