National Library Week and "A Gathering of Readers" is here!

We would like to remind librarians and their patrons to visit the"Gathering of Readers" Web site this week at www.ischool.utexas.edu/~gathread to view this unique online event.

Some thirty schools that serve Native children around the world are participating. Students at participating sites received incentives, including LIVESTRONG wristbands from the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

We have information on our participating schools, activities for kids and teens, information on indigenous authors, and information on how schools promote reading and culture. Students at participating schools are invited to submit drawings for possible publication in the "Rabbit and Bear Paws" comic strip.
